Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
