The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial championship series after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now slugged 23 October home runs, making him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he continued.

Toronto's team claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
